Genuine Lalique Formose Vase With Original Brown Staining
This Rene Lalique vase still has its original brown staining, further exaggerating the depth of the fish depicted on this spherical vase.
This vase in particular would have been formed by using a 4 part mould. The mould itself would have been made by creating a model out of wax.
The wax master is used to create an impression in Plaster of Paris. This method of mould fabrication is ancient and is still used today.
The signature can be seen very lightly on the bottom of the vase "R. LAL", can be seen.
This type of signature was created by using a stencil. The stencil was made of tin, then acid was poured into it, leaving the signature seen.
